Chip authenticity
Use a reputable supplier when you need predictable read range and genuine NXP chips. Very cheap listings can vary in chip and antenna quality.
Buy the chip, not the hype
For a simple profile link you are buying a small NFC tag inside a plastic card, not a complex electronic device. Anyone can program it themselves; blank stock can cost only a few tens of pence per card in bulk, while custom printing becomes attractive once labour matters more than the card itself.

Large batches can still feel premium when the artwork, card finish and QR/NFC placement are handled well from the start.

Cost decisions
Use a reputable supplier when you need predictable read range and genuine NXP chips. Very cheap listings can vary in chip and antenna quality.
Blank cards plus labels are flexible for small runs. Direct full-colour printing is cleaner when you are producing hundreds or thousands.
Writing one card takes seconds, but thousands of cards need a repeatable write-and-test workflow. Ask suppliers about pre-encoding if labour becomes the main cost.
The lowest headline unit price is not always the cheapest delivered option once shipping, VAT, lead time and rejects are included.
Before ordering 1000
Check physical size, thickness, finish, chip identification and phone read range before approving a bulk order.
Do not approve a sample based only on a generic demo URL. Test your permanent NFC smart link on iPhone and Android hardware you actually expect customers to use.
Keep a known-good physical sample and artwork proof. It is much cheaper to discover a contrast, QR-size or antenna-placement issue before a thousand cards exist.
Questions
Capacity is usually enough, but card quality also depends on the antenna, chip authenticity, materials and supplier quality control. Test a sample before a large order.
Blank stock is flexible and cheap for small or changing designs. For large runs, custom printing can cost less overall once label printing and application labour are included.
Ready when you are
Use an ordinary writable NFC card or sticker, program your permanent profile link yourself, and keep the same card when your details change. Bulk blank cards can cost only a few tens of pence each.
