Buy the chip, not the hype
At scale, NFC business cards can cost well under £1 each.
For a simple profile link you are buying a small NFC tag inside a plastic card, not a complex electronic device. Anyone can program it themselves; blank stock can cost only a few tens of pence per card in bulk, while custom printing becomes attractive once labour matters more than the card itself.

Large batches can still feel premium when the artwork, card finish and QR/NFC placement are handled well from the start.

Printing method
Blank cards plus labels are flexible for small runs. Direct full-colour printing is cleaner when you are producing hundreds or thousands.
Programming labour
Writing one card takes seconds, but thousands of cards need a repeatable write-and-test workflow. Ask suppliers about pre-encoding if labour becomes the main cost.
Shipping and tax
The lowest headline unit price is not always the cheapest delivered option once shipping, VAT, lead time and rejects are included.

Check physical size, thickness, finish, chip identification and phone read range before approving a bulk order.

Approve print and then scale
Keep a known-good physical sample and artwork proof. It is much cheaper to discover a contrast, QR-size or antenna-placement issue before a thousand cards exist.

Is the cheapest NTAG213 card good enough?
Capacity is usually enough, but card quality also depends on the antenna, chip authenticity, materials and supplier quality control. Test a sample before a large order.
Should I buy blank or printed cards?
Blank stock is flexible and cheap for small or changing designs. For large runs, custom printing can cost less overall once label printing and application labour are included.
